Experience in the Workroom

I grew up learning the basics of hand sewing, but it wasn’t until I turned twenty and committed to learning a new hobby each year that I found the confidence to teach myself how to use a machine. Since then, I’ve practiced through trial and error, starting with everyday fixes like hemming pants, repairing zippers, replacing buttons, and taking in clothes for friends and family. When my sister got engaged, I had the chance to expand my skills by altering traditional Indian lenghas and kurtas for the wedding celebrations — an experience that taught me patience, precision, and respect for cultural garments. I continue to grow by combining personal projects, thrifting as a sustainable way to practice, and saying yes to new challenges.

about me

I started Mo’s Workroom as part of a personal journey to learn a new hobby every year in my twenties. What began as reading, crochet, and sewing has grown into a love for altering, mending, and creating pieces that carry both function and meaning.

Alterations

Alterations help your clothes fit, last, and feel right. From simple hems and zipper fixes to tailored adjustments, it’s about caring for the pieces you already own and making them truly yours.
